M42 THE ORION NEBULA
M42 is located at a distance of 1,344 ± 20 light
years and is the closest region of massive star
formation to Earth. The M42 nebula is estimated
to be 24 light years across.
Taken Dec. '03 from Thaxton, VA at the prime
focus of a Stellarvue SV78S Blackhawk (f6)
riding on a Losmandy GM-8. This is a 60 min.
manually guided exposure on Kodak Elite Chrome
200 slide film pushed 1 stop. Scanned by Tony
